Busy Little Man!
First of all, he is taking steps! It's been about a week now, starting with 1-2 steps, then balancing in place, and now he is up to 7-8 steps at most! It's so fun to watch him learn!
Here's your sneak preview (it's not his best attempts, but he gets camera-shy, apparently)
He's also been babbling...mostly Da Da Da Da...guess we know what his first word will be!
He's such a cutie - and I'm not biased at all!
He's been sleeping a lot lately - not sure whether that's a teething thing or a growth spurt thing...I guess time will tell. We had a good weekend - hope you all had a good one too!

Baby Mittens
This is a pair of baby mittens I knitted up for a friend. I co 24 sts, rib for a bit (about 2"?), then stockinette stitch for about 3", k2tog around, k 1 rd, k2tog around, draw yarn through sts. Then I crocheted a chain to link the two mittens. I use a similar pair for Toby and I love the way they work! Even if he manages to get them off, at least we haven't lost them yet!Infant Sweater

Funnies
This morning I was trying to get a shower in, and since Curtis is fine-tuning the shower door caulking, we are using Toby's bathroom this week. I gave Toby a load of toys and shut him in, then jumped in the shower. I get good and shampooed up when I feel a cold breeze...open my eyes to find Toby, proud as can be and squinting through all the water hitting his face - he'd figured out how to find mama behind that shower curtain thing! I had to change his clothes because he was utterly soaked! It was so cute, there was no way I could be mad at him! So much for taking a shower while he's awake though!
I never shared our pics from the zoo 2 weeks ago (At least I don't think I did...sorry if these are repeats!)
Here is Curtis and Toby - I love this pic!
Toby and Mama - not the best pic of either of us, but oh well.
And one in the high chair that I just love!
Ok, well stinker should be up from his nap any minute now so I gotta run!

Graduation Day!
For old time's sake, here he is in his old tub (this was taken in July)

And here he is tonight. Yes, he was fascinated with the whole spout/ drain thing. In fact, I didn't even know the knob on top of the drain came off, but the little stinker unscrewed it at some point (I'm not even sure when; it's a wonder he didn't eat it!).
He had a blast, and Lex spent the whole time staring over the side of the tub, maybe jealous that he wasn't in the tub? Toby's started taking more steps - he can do 2-3 at a time now, and he's starting to get the idea! I have no idea if he'll be walking soon or if he's still got a ways to go, but he is definitely working on it!
Well, I want to catch CSI so I'm off the computer for now!

It is turning colder here (whose idea was it to have cooler weather in January? Sheesh!). We're watching the OSU game and they're losing :( I guess it's just a quiet night here. Tomorrow is our Mom's meeting for January and we're learning infant CPR, so I'm looking foward to that. I hope Toby behaves in the nursery!
Well I thought I could come up with an interesting post tonight, but maybe it is just too late for this tired chica.
Nighty night!

One step closer...
And so Toby gets one step closer to learning to walk! This is his new push hippo...later he can sit and ride on it. It's taken him a bit to get the hang of it, but he's learning! In the background you can see our new fishtank! I had grand plans of taking pictures of it tonight but then one of the starter fish died and I don't care to document the other fish eating it. I'm not National Geographic or anything :) Maybe once the little carnivores are done dining. Blech.
And by the way, whose grand idea was it to make a jalepeno flavored jelly bean? I'm sitting here enjoying one of my Christmas gifts - a large box of my favorite jelly belly jellybeans and all of a sudden my mouth is on fire! Well I look at the little chart on my box and no wonder - they make jalepeno jellybeans! P'toohooe!
Nothing else too new going on around here. Busy busy busy as little bees! Oh, it was in the 70's here today - in January! I love this state!

Happy New Year!
We had a wonderful visit in Ohio, but it went very quickly! It's always nice to get back home though. Curtis is already busy playing with his aquarium and if things go well we will add a couple starter fish in sometime this weekend. Most of our bags are unpacked and the Christmas tree is down and the ornaments are packed away. I'm begging that those boxes go "up" sometime this weekend...after all, what's the point of attic storage if you don't use it? :-P
Here is a family Christmas picture taken on Christmas Eve before we went to the church service. Notice the lovely, dangly earrings? Yeah, they only lasted another 5 minutes before I had to take them out before they were ripped out by my darling son who is intrigued by anything new dangling from mama! He sure is a curious kiddo!

He loved Christmas, by the way. He had so many Christmas celebrations that by the last one he was really getting the idea of opening gifts! He is learning things so quick that he even suprises mom and dad! Last night I set up the Peek and Play dome that came in the mail while we were gone, and on the front is a plastic door that lets him in or out...he's already figured out that he has to open the door if he wants to go in and play! I was impressed, anyway.
He's also getting in a couple new teeth...well, at least one. He doesn't let us look in there much anymore, lol. Of course he was cranky the whole time we were in Ohio, but he's better now. His schedule has popped back on track much easier than I expected! He woke up once last night but only fussed so he stayed in his crib! YAY! Here's hoping tonight goes as well!
Lex is happy to be home too, although it sounds like he had a superb time at one of Curtis's coworkers houses...he played with their dogs all day and I do think he misses all the activity. I tried to convince Curtis that Lex needs another puppy to play with, but I don't think he bought it. I guess new fish is enough for now. I just like a house-full!
Well, the tank (fish tank, that is) is full and Curtis is looking bored, so I guess the two of us better hit the hay before Toby is ready for another day.
May 2007 find you happy, healthy, and ready for adventure!
