Goof!

Toby is such a little ham. He decided to play with his sippy today after snack and he was having such fun that I grabbed the camcorder!

Enjoy!

He's an ourdoors boy

We went outside to play yesterday and I got some cute pics of Toby. As you can tell he was eating dirt. Sigh. He's a boy all right.

He just loves being outside, and if you bring him back in before he's ready he screams bloody murder. Well, if you do anything he doesn't like he scream bloody murder. I need some earplugs.

New shorties

Been busy knitting!

These are a pair of shorties I knitted for my Toby. They are sized large. I used 100% merino wool (SO SOFT) and size 7 dpn and circulars. Can't wait to lanolize them and try them out!

These are another pair of shorties I knitted, size medium. They are 100% wool, but not merino, so I would consider them slightly irritating, especially to sensative skin. I'm hoping I can sell these!

Sweetpea

Today I was finishing up some things on the computer and Toby disappeared into his room. I left him go for a few minutes, figuring he was just emptying his dresser drawers as usual. When I went in to check on him this is what I found...

He just loves to sit in his chair and watch out the window...it really is just too precious!

He is looking so much older all of a sudden...he really is a toddler now and not my baby anymore...well, he'll always be my baby, but I think most of you know what I mean. He's not happy with just being held anymore, and he can get very independant.

He's learning to hold a spoon, and actually feed himself, scooping from a bowl and all. It sure suprised me that he could do that at all, and now that he can, he's not happy being fed anymore. So I just thicken up all his food with rice and hope for the best (=less mess).

My baby is growing up!!! ACK!

Mt Everest

We have been using a carefully constructed barrier of kitchen chairs to keep Toby confined to one end of the house - keeping him out of the kitchen, our bedroom, and the computer area, yet allowing Lex access to the house as he pleases. It had a wonderful run of several months. Until today.

Once on top the chair, he immediately turned around and plopped down on the other side. Happy as a clam, he was off to explore all those off-limit areas.

ARGH!

So the baby gate is back up - more efficient, but a bigger pain to set up and tear down. So Toby is either taller or smarter...not sure which :)

Wool Soaker

I knitted these over the last week or so. These are using 100% Merino wool

(Malabrigo). It took almost an entire skein, using size 7 needles, knit in the round. The are just finishing drying after I lanolized them (my first attempt). I can't wait to try them out tomorrow - I also made a flannel fitted pocket diaper for my DS, and the combo is exciting to try out!

Best Friends Forever

Toby just can't resist something that isn't his, lol! It's a good thing Lex doesn't mind sharing, even when it comes to his bed :)

Happy Birthday Toby!

Yesterday was Toby's first birthday, and a memorable one at that. The poor kiddo was sick the day before, and then gave it to me, Curtis, and my parents who were visiting. So we spent TOby's birthday on the couch, completely felled by the flu. Blech. It was not a fun day at all.

Today we did the cake and ice cream, well, no ice cream for Toby but he loved the cake! He's still regaining his appetite, but I just couldn't put off his cake another day. He just loved every crumb he got.

Here is a video of Toby, well, really there's two. The first was on his birthday, when I went in to get him up for the day. You can see his reaction for yourself. The second is his first real taste of birthday cake. Happy birthday Toby!

I am very sad that my baby is 1, but at the same time it is so much fun watching him grow. I just cannot believe how much he has changed in the last year. It was just a year ago that he, daddy, and I were still in the hospital, amazing by this little being in our arms! We are just as amazed today, but a little less afraid of breaking him ;) I can hardly remember life before Toby...it's almost as though there was nothing before him. Children really do change everything. And for the better. I cannot imagine my life without my little sunshine to brighten every day. Even when he's cranky, he's so cute! ANd if that's not the essence of motherly love, I don't know what is.

Alright, enough with the sappy talk. Enjoy the video, and for those of you on dial up, this is longer than my others so you may want to start the download and then do some chores or something while it downloads, lol!

May the next year exceed the last (if that's possible)
