Last Childbirth Class...

I guess we are now qualified to be parents! Last night was our last class and we covered all the newborn basics, including breastfeeding. They even sent us home with a copy of "What to Expect the First Year." Yay for free books! I'm glad the class is over though...Monday nights were rather hectic with Curtis not getting home until almost 6 and having to be at the class by 6:30, so it will be nice not to have to schedule around that anymore. It will also make planning dinner much more simple! Now we need to get to the hospital to preregister, so with any luck we will get that done this weekend sometime.

It looks like we will be inheriting a 55 gallon fishtank tonight, so more moving of furniture...sigh. But this is the last piece, so I can finally get the office put together. At least until we move. Whenever that may be.

Oh, here's another maternity picsture, for anyone interested in seeing them.

Lex can be so darn cute when he wants to be...for our Christmas picture it took forever and a lot of treats to gain any cooperation from him, but try to exclude him from pictures and he invites himself in :) We figured if he wanted to be in them so badly, we'd let him...the problem was trying to keep him out of the pictures!

Feels like Spring!

Spring is in the air...for today, anyhow. It's already almost 60 degrees and it's not even 11am yet! Today is supposed to be nice, but it is supposed to cool down for the rest of the week (highs in only the 50's..eek!) :)

We had a nice quiet weekend here...one thing we did do is take some maternity pictures! It's amazing what can be done with a digital camera and a sheet.

Like I said, there doesn't seem to be too much going on right now, but maybe that's a good thing...life will be hectic enough before too long.

Nursery!!!!!

We have made much headway on our nursery this weekend! The crib came on Friday, the piano was moved on Saturday, which left plenty of room for Curtis to build :) It took less than an hour and we now have a bed for our baby to sleep in!

I also took to the sewing machine this weekend and made up curtains for the nursery...the room was in desperate need of some color! We found out it takes almost exactly half a football game to make up a set of curtains :) By the way, we were sorry to see the Panthers lose last night, but will be rooting for the Steelers in two weeks!

Overall, the weekend was very productive, and we finally have a room that is starting to look like a nursery! I wish we could paint and such, but I will be patient and wait for a house.

In other news, my husband has learned to fly!

On Friday he was working at the wind tunnel and was given the opportunity to try it out himself! He had four tries and by the third try he was actually doing fairly well! I didn't see it, but he has video of the whole thing, so I could watch that! I'm terribly jealous, but I couldn't fit in the flight suit now anyway, so I'm glad he had the opportunity! He was very sore on Saturday, but by Sunday he was back to himself.

All in all, it ws a momentous weekend for both of us!

Baby Stuff Galore

Yes, yet another baby post...I'm sorta preoccupied with the topic at the moment, so bear with me :) We went shopping this weekend for all the baby things we needed to pick up that we couldn't find here in town, and for the most part it was a very successful trip! I have to admit though, I might have tried to overdo it, so I am taking today easy. We found our stroller/ car seat system, and we love it! Here's a picture:

It wasn't the easiest thing to find since we were somewhat picky about the color, but we're really happy with this one. We found all sorts of other baby items this weekend too, and ended up ordering our crib online after much frustration and searching in the stores...apparently many baby stores do not SELL cribs, they only show them off. Anyway, thanks to the good people at Amazon, our crib should be on it's way shortly!

Today is very quiet, and I'm happy for the peace after such a busy weekend. We had our second childbirth class last night, which went well. For the most part it's a lecture/ movie, but it's free so I can hardly complain. Anyway, the weather here is fairly nice...up in the 60's...hope your weather is just as balmy!

3D Ultrasound!!!

We had our appointment this morning and voila! 3D pictures! The pictures have blurry spots over the face because the umbilical cord is hanging right over his face and it's hard to focus through that, but other than that he cooperated just fine! Curtis thinks he has my nose but I think all babies look like that ;) I guess we'll see in two short months! Anyway, here they are!

A Balmy January day

The weather here is beautiful! Yesterday we hit 70!!! I can hardly believe this is January, but I'm going to sit back and enjoy it while it lasts. It's amazing that it feels more like March than January. I love North Carolina!

The apartment is starting to take shape. Last night we moved the recliner out of the study and into the living room, and moved the rocking chair into the nursery. Everything else left is going to have to be done in one fell swoop, as in order to move the table, we have to move the bookshelf, and in order to move the desks out we have to move the table. It's going to ba a hairy couple of days but I will gladly rest once it's all said and done. And then I can start decorating!

I must sheepishly admit that I managed to lock myself out of the apartment yesterday. Oops :) I was on the phone with my neighbor, and she wanted me to check on something in her apartment since she's out of town. I remembered to grab her key, but not my own, and I knew it the minute I shut the door. Argh! I'm just thankful that 1.) I can walk down to the office and get the spare key, 2.) it wasn't raining yet, and 3.) I was wearing shoes. Curtis thought the whole incident was much funner than I thought it was.

Well, I am hoping to have pictures to post in my next entry...first off, of the apartment completely rearranged, and second, we are supposed to have an ultrasound done tomorrow at my appointment! Cross your fingers and hope little bean cooperates with the ultrasound tech...I want to see his face!

Home Again!

Well, it has been a long time between posts, but to be fair we've been in Ohio since December 23rd! We're home again now, and although it was a LONG 10 hour ride, the 60 degree weather helps wuite a bit! I know I'm going to regret this statement, but it doesn't even feel like winter (ok, mother nature, I know that statement will result in a horrible snowstorm next week!). We had a great visit home, and although we were there for two weeks, we could have used longer...there were still people we didn't get to visit! I also had my baby shower while we were home...I received so many beautiful gifts. Now it's on to readying the nursery!

We're in the middle of a major upheaval in this apartment right now as we're moving just about every piece of furniture in here to make room for baby. And in order to move that much furniture I'm reorganizing our closets, which were already bursting at the seams! How did we aquire so much stuffin the space of two years...we certainly didn't pack this much stuff into the U=Haul we moved down in!

Well, I have a million and a half things to do, but I wanted to post an update.
