Pool and Cowgirl

2 unlikely subjects to put together? Not here :P

First up, this picture is for Auntie Erin and Uncle Jordon. At Christmas, this outfit looked huge, but Little Miss has gone through a growth spurt recently.

The outfit fits perfect now, and she is just darling in it. But she really didn't want to wear the cowboy hat with that outfit; she much preferred her Easter hat with that one. Silly girl :P I just wish her red cowboy boots still fit...what an outfit it would be then!

They had an absolute blast. The dog was worn out that night too. I can't wait to fill it up again, once we get our yellowjacket colony "taken care of". Which will involve an exterminator and a lot of chemicals. Kill the little....bees. As soon as Curtis finds the hole for their nest I'm calling and setting up an appt for them to come out and smoke them.



Toby's been pushing boundaries this morning so it's looking like a long day. Our hummingbirds are still very active and draining our feeder every 2.5 days. They are so fun to watch though.

We had a good storm roll through yesterday and got over .5 inch of rain. It was thundering and blustering...Lucy napped through the whole thing, but Toby curled up with me in the lazyboy and we watched the trees blow.

I can't believe July is rolling to an end already...this summer is really flying by. I'm excited for September and MOPS and Bible Study starting up...and while we have had a mild summer so far, I'm not expecting it to hold out for all of August, so I'm sure we will have that unbearable heat before long. Last night I took a walk after the kids went to bed and it was downright lovely. Not sure the dog enjoyed the full 2 miles, but well...he can be a little lazy. But with a nice breeze, the weather was fantastic, and we don't often say that about NC summers. :P

Sorry, it's been a slow week for me in blogger. I've not been on the computer much and the pics from this week are still on the camera. I will try to get them off later today or tomorrow and post :)

Not much going on here. We've been watching hummingbirds and we bought a little pool for the backyard this morning so we're planning to fill it up this afternoon. Hopefully that will wear the kids out. Other than that it's been a quiet weekend of getting some things done around here. I even got a 2 mile walk in yesterday while Curtis mowed the grass.

We managed to make it to the 8:30 service at church this morning, so while we have the rest of the day ahead of us, we are dragging a bit. I was up late watching a movie and Curtis didn't notice the time until after midnight. I should really pull this on Friday night, not Saturday. Oh well. My coffee is working its magic now.

Lucy's 18 month WellBaby

Today we went to the dr for Lucy's 18 month wellbaby checkup, albeit almost a month late.

Her stats were: 33 inches (75th percentile), and 26 lbs, 4 ounces (75th percentile)

For reference, at Toby's 18 month checkup, he was 35.5 inches and 29 lbs 2 ounces.

They usually seem about 4 lbs different, at their respective ages, although I do wonder what Lucy's would have been a month ago, closer to the 18 month mark, since I feel she JUST had a big growth spurt in the last 2 weeks or so. Still, everything looks great and even though she had 3 shots, she doesn't seem to be holding it against me :)

Hummingbird Wars

Today is a wet, dreary day. As we sat eating lunch I noticed our little hummer doing something new... sitting on the shepherd hook.

After lunch, he was back and I got a better look...
I have never in my life seen a hummingbird sit so long. At first I thought maybe it was the weather, it's cooler today and not blistering hot, so maybe he is enjoying the weather?

But as I was taking my second round of pics, I saw him chase off another hummingbird...three times.

Aha.

He just doesn't like to share and is guarding his food.

And I thought they seemed like such sweet birds.

The new Lens in Action

So I've finally had a chance to play with my new lens and here are some pictures from this week!

I took the kids swimming at the gym pool today...hopefully wore them out enough that there will be no bedtime battles tonight! Tomorrow we're planning to hit up a different pool with friends, so lots of fun in the sun!

Too many to post!

I have been busy, too busy to post apparently! On our recent trip to visit family I finished 2 soakers, a sweater for Lucy, a cardi for my mom, and a dishcloth (small, but it counts!)

This is the cardi, a DROPS pattern that was difficult to decipher, to say the least! But I did figure it out and was thrilled with the finished project. It looks even better on...less boxy.
Pics of the soakers and Lucy's sweater are still on the camera, but I will get them up eventually.

I am currently working on a commisioned Dolly, and am now working on styling her hair. They are always much cuter once they get some hair!

I visited an awesome fiber store while in Ohio - Fiberworks, in Beavercreek, OH. They were super helpful and let me try out all the spinning wheels! I think I know which one I am officially lusting after - the Kromski Sonata. So now I know just how much I have to save up to get it! I also walked out with a few new spindles to hold me over until I can afford my wheel and some BFL in a gorgeous colorway, as well as 7 beautiful ounces of natural alpaca in a gorgeous grey. It is spinning up gorgeously! I think I'm going to knit it into a scarf and matching hat for myself for this winter! Yum!

I also returned from Ohio with a huge suitcase full of yarn, a la Aunt Lisa and company! Thanks! I am perusing baby blanket patterns and am planning to do some knitting for charity with all my new yarn and awesome assortment of colors! Plus it gives me lots of color options for Dollys!
