So this weekend was the Flying Pig in Cincy! We really made a weekend of it - on Saturday we had to be there to pick up Curtis's packet for his Big Race, and the kids races were Saturday as well, so we signed Toby up for the kid's 1 mile, and Lucy up for the piglet races (100 yard). I had originally registered for the 5k, but in the last couple weeks decided that that would be taking on too much and I wouldn't be able to run much of it anyway so I switched my registration so I could accompany Toby (and I was sure glad I did - with 4000 kids in the race, it was a madhouse and it made me feel better for him to have an adult along!)

And Sunday was Curtis's big race! He had to be there very early and caught a ride with our pastor, who was also running the race...so the kids and I were able to sleep in until a grand 5:30! Then we headed down for the party cheering zones. These pictures are from mile 9.

Overall it was a good race. The weather was hot and humid, and he suffered a bit of heat exhaustion/ dehydration and had to make a stop by the medical tent after crossing the finish line, but he came out of the chute feeling much improved. In fact, his post-race recovery has been much easier than his last couple long runs, so we're guessing he's been a bit dehydrated for the days following his runs. So all is well now and he's very happy with his race!
