Old Man Winter, Bring it On!

Ok, I probably shouldn't be outright daring the old man, but now we are prepared!

This set whipped up in no time this weekend. It's nice to do a super quick project! The hat and mitts are for my DS, age 19 months. They are knit from Lion's Pride Wool-Ease...it was really nice to work with, and not scratchy at all. I hope the wool provides a little extra warmth for him. I will probably have to crochet a cord for the mitts, but for now DS is enjoying playing with them so I'll leave the cord for closer to a time we might use them. For now, it's still in the 70's each day, but you just never know when winter will decide to blow in.

The mitts are a tad but long, but that gives him a little room to grow this winter :) Here is the link for the hat...I've already forgotten where I found the pattern for the mitts!

Halloween, Toddler-style

Today we had a Halloween party for one of my local moms groups. We had a great turnout - I think at least 100 people there, and it was at one of the girl's family farm. What a wonderful time!

Here's Toby on his first pony ride. He had sooooo much fun...and you should have seen his face when he finally saw where Daddy was standing. He had the biggest grin on his face!

Ok, perhaps not Halloween-y, but T found this inchworm and just loved it! He immediately sat down and started scooting.

He was also massively in love with the bouncing horses...it was sort of hard to drag him away from them!

Here's another of his special smiles, lol. The idea of this was to find the hidden prizes in the hay, but Toby just liked to stand in it.

Here's a picture of his costume - he was a monkey. You can kind of see the banana in his pocket!

And finally the little hayride. I thought he'd start crying once it took off (it was two trailers behind a golf cart, going slow enough for the parents to walk alongside it), but he just looked around - I don't think he knew what to think!

Toby had a great time, and it was fun to see all the other little costumes. I think Toby liked the treat lady the best - she kept coming around with a big bowl of treats for the kids...I'm suprised he didn't follow her around. I think I have 6 little baggies of animal crackers now!

After the party, we had to run a few errands, and T wore his costume...it was fun to see the employees faces when they saw our little monkey come in!

He'll get to wear his costume again on Halloween - we're going to sit out front and give out candy to the trick or treaters!

More fabric painting

These are the t's I painted last weekend. I LOVE the hippo, the zebra is cute too but a little light. I bought some more fabric paint this week so I'm slowly getting some new colors into the routine :)


I love doing these - in fact, both of these are for other people, as I don't have much need for short sleeves in Dec :) I dyed the shirts too. I have a babyshower to attend next month so I'm going to make one for her baby too, but it has to be gender neutral since she doesn't know what she's having - I really like the yellow with hippo, so I might do that again for her.

Prefolds!

I just wanted to post my prefolds to date. I only have 4 more to dye :( I love dyeing and I'm sad my stash is coming to an end! I have done some fabric painting recently, just no pics yet. Will get them up soon. I'm enjoying the stenciling and the designs are small enough to do one or two during naptime with plenty of time to clean up and all.

I'm also in the midst of using up my stash of fleece fabric. I'm trying to clean out my scraps and found a lot of fleece, so I'm making little tied loveys (a 15x15 square, with fringe cut around and tied together). Nice soft and the perfect size for cuddling...now I just need to keep them out of my toddler's hands...he likes them too! At least I feel like I'm starting to have a stash ready for my fictitious store...hopefully it will one day be a reality!

Pumpkin Patch!

This morning we drove to the local pumpkin patch with our local mops group. Toby had such a blast looking at all the pumpkins! We took a hayride too, and he loved watching the tractor :)

It was so neat to see a field full of pumpkins - what a nice Fall scene!

We brought home a pumpkin with us (of course!) and lots of fun pictures. T had a wonderful time. They had a HUGE corn maze there...we opted out of that one as that just didn't seem toddler-appropriate. They had a play area for the kids too, but the kids seemed to enjoy the pumpkins WAY more :)

So that was our Fall Fun for the Day!

Little White Sweater

This is part of the Christmas ensemble for DD2B. I bought the red dress, and they were selling a white cardigan to go with it...I thought "Well I can make that!" :) So I did.


Unfortunately the buttons I bought are too tiny for the buttonholes and they keep slipping out so I need to either get bigger buttons or sew the holes a little tighter...or say forget it I won't use the buttons anyway, lol. I think I will knit the matching white socks and hat for the outfit as well.

Hancock Fabrics had a GREAT sale today - I got 5 Macalls patterns for $5!!! I'm increasing my pattern collection of baby/ toddler outfits. I wish there were more cute patterns for boys, but what I found was too "cutesy" for my taste...I prefer the jeans and t's on boys I guess. And I think I like sewing for girls because I can sew dresses in your non-typical little girl fabrics, making things you just can't find in the store. Oik, enough rambling.

Is it Fall yet?

Well, we thought fall was here. We had a few lovely days...followed by hot ones...followed by lovely days...now back to hot and muggy. We were promised rain today, followed by a cold front (yay!)...we had a few drops this morning, I don't think that technically counts as rain. But finally the air coming in the windows feels a little better - I have been miserable the last 2 days.

Anyway, here are some pics of the T-meister. Here he's building with his mega-blocks. He loves those things! And yes, he's sitting on his changing pad. He dragged it to the living room and decided it looked like a lovely seat.

We went to story time at the bookstore this week, and afterwards they handed out mini pumpkins. Toby was so proud of his - he barely left it alone all day!

Curtis has been teaching Toby to catch...Toby actually does far better than I would expect! And here's a video to prove it :) It's about 5 minutes long - I tried to cut it down, but everything I thought about cutting it, he did something cute, so here's the full, uncut version :)
