Pumpkin Patch!

This morning we drove to the local pumpkin patch with our local mops group. Toby had such a blast looking at all the pumpkins! We took a hayride too, and he loved watching the tractor :)

It was so neat to see a field full of pumpkins - what a nice Fall scene!

We brought home a pumpkin with us (of course!) and lots of fun pictures. T had a wonderful time. They had a HUGE corn maze there...we opted out of that one as that just didn't seem toddler-appropriate. They had a play area for the kids too, but the kids seemed to enjoy the pumpkins WAY more :)

So that was our Fall Fun for the Day!

Little White Sweater

This is part of the Christmas ensemble for DD2B. I bought the red dress, and they were selling a white cardigan to go with it...I thought "Well I can make that!" :) So I did.


Unfortunately the buttons I bought are too tiny for the buttonholes and they keep slipping out so I need to either get bigger buttons or sew the holes a little tighter...or say forget it I won't use the buttons anyway, lol. I think I will knit the matching white socks and hat for the outfit as well.

Hancock Fabrics had a GREAT sale today - I got 5 Macalls patterns for $5!!! I'm increasing my pattern collection of baby/ toddler outfits. I wish there were more cute patterns for boys, but what I found was too "cutesy" for my taste...I prefer the jeans and t's on boys I guess. And I think I like sewing for girls because I can sew dresses in your non-typical little girl fabrics, making things you just can't find in the store. Oik, enough rambling.

Is it Fall yet?

Well, we thought fall was here. We had a few lovely days...followed by hot ones...followed by lovely days...now back to hot and muggy. We were promised rain today, followed by a cold front (yay!)...we had a few drops this morning, I don't think that technically counts as rain. But finally the air coming in the windows feels a little better - I have been miserable the last 2 days.

Anyway, here are some pics of the T-meister. Here he's building with his mega-blocks. He loves those things! And yes, he's sitting on his changing pad. He dragged it to the living room and decided it looked like a lovely seat.

We went to story time at the bookstore this week, and afterwards they handed out mini pumpkins. Toby was so proud of his - he barely left it alone all day!

Curtis has been teaching Toby to catch...Toby actually does far better than I would expect! And here's a video to prove it :) It's about 5 minutes long - I tried to cut it down, but everything I thought about cutting it, he did something cute, so here's the full, uncut version :)

4D Ultrasound!

Well, I am at 30 weeks. 30 weeks down, 10 to go. You'd think, being 3/4 done, that I'd feel like I'm reaching the finish line, but I still have to much to do. 10 weeks is NOT long enough!

Anyway, today was my big 4D ultrasound...but this one, like Toby, is just not much for cooperation inside the womb. She had her face pressed into the side of my uterus, with one hand blocking the little bit of face you could see. We did get a couple decent shots, but the vast majority of the time we couldn't even tell what we were looking at! The good news is she's head down (YAY!) and everything looks good. And we can't complain - the 4D was free and we get to meet her in 10 weeks and really see what she looks like!

They couldn't give me a size estimate today, but it sounds like we'll do a growth u/s somewhere around 36 weeks to see if she's a big'un like her brother...if so, we're probably talking induction at 39 weeks. But, I am measuring right on (actually measured at 29 weeks rather than 30!) so that's an indication that she's growing on schedule and perhaps is not a giantess!

The weather cooled off here (again)...we hit two days with record highs this week, so the 70 degrees today feels wonderful! Maybe, just maybe, fall is here to stay this time! One can hope! (It is October after all!)

Little Pink Bonnet

I finished this up last weekend, it just took me a few days to get a pic taken. I had two small balls of sock yarn left, not enough for another pair of socks, so I thought I'd see if I could get a bonnet and booties out of them. The bonnet took one ball, so I'm now debating whether I want to knit another bonnet as a gift, or make booties...decisions, decisions. For now I have some other things I'm working on so those will wait a bit. I was very pleased with this bonnet though - I had used this pattern in a sport weight yarn and it came out large, so I think the sock yarn is the perfect way to make it tiny. I used size 2 needles; I love using the little needles! They just fit better in my hand - right now I'm using size 9's and they are just not as slick to knit with.

I made a trip to JoAnn's today - had a 50% off coupon and knew just what I wanted...except, what I wanted was already on sale, so I couldn't use the coupon on it...so I did a little shopping :) Like I needed more projects in the queue! LOL! I'm set for a while now...until I see another sale anyway...

Air Show!

Today was LONG! Fun, but LONG :) We went to the Air Show and boy was it hot for October! It felt great in the shade but that sun is still quite hot down here. Hot enough that I have a terrible sunburn - thankfully, I'm the only one, but I can tell I'll be hurting tomorrow.

Ok, so we had hot dogs there for lunch. I went to take a pic of Toby, not realizing he had a mouthful of hotdog bun, told him to smile, and this is what I get for it:

We had a great time. We had to wait awhile to get there as we weren't allowed to park on the AFB, but had to park in the designated lots and be bussed over - well, we waited an hour for the bus to get to the air show. Coming back, they had more busses running to our lot, but we left at the end of the show so at the same time as everyone else, so we waited an hour in line for a bus to get back to the car! That was less than desirable as we were all tired and hungry, but we survived :) We decided to go ahead and eat in Fayetteville since it was already after 5, then we ran to Target. By the time we got home it was after 8 and T was conked. He barely woke up while we dressed him for bed...but then again, he didn't get a nap today either and it was a long, hot day! Here's hoping he sleeps tonight, although I'm not too worried.

We had a blast and I'm sad that this is the last air show there will be (they're closing the base down), as Toby LOVED the planes. We covered his ears for the loud fly-byes (he hated the loud noise), but as soon as it got quiet he would point to the sky and say "Please, please!" (it actually comes out more "peas, peas") He also loved walking through the large planes they had on the ground for people to view. The thunderbirds were really something to see...it was quite an exciting show! My only complaints were the bussing (and our hour wait was NOTHING compared to what some of the lots were waiting to leave) and the fact that there were NO baby changing stations...how hard would it be to plan for people bring babies and toddlers in diapers? They even had extra large portapotties for moms to go in with their kids, but no changing tables...and it's not like you could walk out to the car, know what I mean? So that wasn't fun. We ended up changing Toby behind of the vendor trailers after seeing another couple doing the same thing...they really didn't leave us much of an option. Or if they did, they certainly didn't advertise it well. But that was nothing compared to all the fun we had watching the planes!

Yesterday we went to the local Autumnfest and walked around for a bit - that was a lot of fun. There was a juggler and Toby had a blast watching him - you never know on things like that whether it will interest him or not. Well, juggler = big hit. As well as the bright red balloon he got to bring home...but balloons are a sure-fire smile for him.

It was a busy weekend, but a fun one.

Ok so there's nothing much exciting going on here today. We had to turn the air back on late this week when it just got too stuffy to sleep at night...and now they're talking about low 90's again by the beginning of the week. Will this summer never end? 90's in October? That's record setting highs, even for here! And I'm hot enough as it is, I don't need help from Mother Nature.

Anyhoo, this is my 29 week photo. Notice Toby's expression - priceless!!! He loves to feel my belly...then he feels daddy's belly, then his belly :) I don't think he quite "gets" it, lol.

Goofy child. He thinks he's quite funny, too. He figured out how to blow raspberries all over everyone so it's been a week filled with lots of spit...gross, really. It's not as bad when he's blowing them on his own feet, but when he decides to try on your face or hair...ugh.

We're hoping to get out some this weekend, so with any luck we'll have some decent pics to post later!
